RESAOLAB initiatives in Burkina Faso as of January 2017
As a founding member of RESAOLAB, each year Burkina Faso takes part in training, laboratory supervision, quality assurance and external quality assessment initiatives.
To provide the country with training structures, several projects have been funded by the Mérieux Foundation and various partners, including the Agence Française de Développement, such as the creation in 2013 of the Continuing Training Center and the External Quality Assessment Unit in Ouagadougou (within the General Directorate of Pharmacy, Drugs and Laboratories), the renovation of three continuing training centers in 2014 (in Bobo-Dioulasso, Ouahigouya and Fada N’Gourma), and the restoration of the laboratory and practical work rooms of the Pharmacy Faculty in Ouagadougou in 2014 with the support of Fondation Christophe et Rodolphe Mérieux.
Thanks to these facilities, Burkina Faso hosts a number of training sessions on Quality Control, laboratory management, and other topics, as well as meetings in connection with RESAOLAB activities.
In total, more than 100 Burkinabe clinical laboratories are under supervision and are being gradually integrated into the external quality assessment program launched by the Mérieux Foundation.
Burkina Faso is also one of the countries that has received scholarships for the Bachelor in Applied Medical Biology (BAMS) course held in Mali and was awarded 2 DES scholarships like the other countries..
