Three days full of learning and sharing experiences

The RESAOLAB Technical Workshops held in Conakry in 2015 took place over three days. Each day was devoted to an in-depth workshop on a specific topic.

Technical workshops and laying the new directorate foundation stone
    The workshops focused on:

    • Laboratory management: Representatives from Senegal shared their experience with workshop participants. The management and destruction of biological waste and other practical topics were discussed in detail.
    • Quality assurance: This workshop, held on the second day, began with a ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the future Laboratory Directorate and training center being built at the IPPS (Laboratoires à l’Institut de Perfectionnement du Personnel de Santé). The Guinean Minister of Health and other eminent figures attended the morning ceremony. In the afternoon, the workshop on QA continued on from the progress accomplished in Lomé in November 2014. Discussions focused on the accreditation of West African laboratories and other topics.
    • Initial and continuous training: On the third and final day, participants explored key areas impacting how laboratory personnel receive training. For example: training the trainers; developing and validating training modules; the Master in Biology (BAMS) program; the lab maintenance project; the WARDS project; etc. They heard progress reports concerning infrastructure projects in other RESAOLAB countries such as Benin and Togo.
